I think you can judge how good a font will be by looking at the ampersand, definitely the best character in any font. This lovely blogger, posted 1 a day for a whole year, what a wonderful concept for a blog, nothing more needed.
Developing the print designs representing each creative involved in the publication. Each print is based on a single geometric shape. Above is the development work for Susanna’s print - based on a view through a microscopic lens and Steven’s print, based on his love of angular sculpture and 2-dimensional work with jewellery.
Deriven from my current work at university I have created a cage around a large rough stone using a laser welder. Small blasts of heat in the form of a laser are fired at the metal to create a join.
This stone is called Pyrite (known as Fool’s Gold)
Size of stone: 5 x 3cm
‘A library is thought in cold storage.’ - Herbert Samuel
So today I headed to the London College of Fashion library to drag the information I needed out of cold storage. It was interesting to look at graphics through a fashion perspective and I found quite a few useful sources.
Initial Research and Possible Pathways
After having the group tutorial today I realised I need to get hands on and stuck in with this project. Seeing as I’ve become quite interested in the jewellery I am going to organise myself a trip to a silverwork workshop at a friend’s university. Unfortunately the earliest I can go is a couple of weeks. So until then I will have to get on with some stuff at home. But I think trying to come up with a concept is m downfall, I keep thinking about the final thing as apposed to a route to follow. Therefore doing a bit of process driven work should drive me forward.
